In our paper Automation in Manufacturing and Assembly of Industrialised Construction, we reviewed 53 studies to understand how automation is currently being applied across the sector. The articles collectively highlighted that automation technologies including IoT, RFID, laser scanning, BIM-based digital environments, robotics and AI are already playing a transformative role in improving manufacturing and assembly by strengthening interoperability, optimising scheduling, enhancing production traceability, improving safety, supporting manufacturability, elevating quality assurance and enabling more reliable constructability . One of the key advantages of this synthesis is that it brings these technologies together into seven clearly defined categories of benefits which provides a consolidated overview that helps industry understand where automation creates value and where future research and investment are most urgently needed, helping industry gain a clearer view of how automation can support industrialised construction.
